Welcome to Improv Fest Ireland!
November 15th to 22nd 2015
2015 marks the third annual Improv Fest Ireland, a festival of improvisation, unscripted theatre and comedy, taking place once again in Dublin! This festival aims to highlight the diversity of Improv as a Performing Art and introduce new audiences to the excitement and fun of what Improv has to offer. The festival will feature shows, Improv jams, storytelling, workshops and more!
The festival will feature top acclaimed international and national acts. We also have some top guest workshop tutors from all over the world. Once again we are partnered with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and our famous Celebrity show returns once again this year!

As we continue to grow as a festival, we have an increasing amount of national and international acts wanting to perform. We would love to have enough spots for all strong applications, but sadly we have way more applications than spots available. However we would like to offer some tips to you, so you can submit your strongest applications in the future
We’re very pleased to advise that applications for 2015 were made via the National Improv Network’s
website. Founded by Nick Armstrong and Bill Binder, the National Improv Network is an excellent on-line resource for the Improv community around the world, offering every improviser and troupe access to a wide array of resources and services.
The spirit of community is very important to us at Improv Fest Ireland, and we are always keen to see performers and groups using the festival as a great opportunity to hang out and network. We encourage participants to see as many shows as you can, attending a workshop or two and of course continue to make new connections post show in the bar and at the events. Please join us in the bar for a drink!
Please take time to prepare your application. Remember as an Improv festival, we see plenty of pitches for shows that use words such as ‘unique’ and ‘made up on the spot’. So what separates your application from the rest? What makes your show special? Do you have a unique genre show? Does your troupe have a particular strength? We do like to see applications that reflect the personality of the group. Is your show unusual or unique in format and setting? Please make this information an essential part of your application.
Video footage of your troupe is great. Please include a YouTube/Vimeo/web link if you have footage! Even if its not nicely edited or shot, we’re interested in the performance element as opposed to the video quality. Please include unedited scenes so we get to see you properly!
Have you had any coverage of your shows previously in the media? Include links to the coverage too.
Don’t forget to check dates! If you are successful in your application, we want you to come to the festival! Make sure that if you are accepted you are free and able to travel to Dublin during festival week. We will try to accommodate schedules (particularly for international improvisers) as much as we can, but please try to be as free as possible for festival dates. We will remind you of this in the application.
We’re very pleased to introduce the Improv Fest Ireland’s Audience Award as part of the 2015 festival. Audiences will be determining their ‘picks of the festival’ for 2015!
For the first time, we will be including an application for Solo Performers. This an opportunity is for improvisers who are travelling without a troupe, to perform and participate in the festival in their own right. Solo Performers will be asked to tell us about themselves and their improv background.
All Solo Performers will have an opportunity to perform in mixer shows and jams, and to receive special festival benefits!
All Solo spots for 2015 have been allocated. Thank you for applying.
As the festival draws closer we will be releasing more festival information, including workshop instructor details, special events and jams.
