“IMPROV SELF-DEFENSE”
courtney pong
friday 2nd october: 2:30PM - 5:30PM
The theme/approach is about taking care of yourself and your teammate if you find yourself in an uncomfy moment on stage, while still moving on with grace and keeping the audience with you. The practicality of it: we work with lots of different people with different backgrounds + our mouths sometimes move faster than our brains and we or our teammates say something that doesn’t land or endow someone as someone we don’t want to be. I particularly like this one these days because we discuss moments that don’t seem as obvious where you might want to use these tools to help you or your teammate move beyond a painful/awkward/uncomfy moment, well before the cast even warms up, during the show, and after the show.
