OVERTURNING THE LAWS OF NATURE

Saturday 3rd october 1:30pm - 4:30pm

"Overturning The Laws Of Nature" is challenging the fundamental rules that define our reality and inviting participants to create entirely new ones. In this workshop, we will explore how reversing the laws of nature creates new worlds. What happens when gravity is optional, time is fluid, and characters transcend the natural order?

In the workshop we will simply explain Fundamental Laws of Physics (ex. Law of Universal Gravitation) and then create scenes in universes that the exact opposite is true. My background in Chemical Engineering makes it possible to simplify those laws in the favour of the creative process.

The goal is to push creative boundaries, embrace the surreal, and develop a deeper understanding of how we can build and sustain imaginary worlds-making them not only engaging but also emotionally resonant and narratively rich.
"Overturning The Laws Of Nature" helps participants create fully realized imaginary worlds by shifting their mindset from realism to limitless creativity. Instead of simply applying a tool or methodology, this workshop encourages a fundamental rethinking of how stories, environments, and characters interact when natural laws no longer apply.

Participants will develop:

  • A new perspective on world-building – They will learn to construct rich, immersive realities where the unexpected is the norm and every choice expands the possibilities of the scene.

  • Freedom from habitual thinking – By stepping away from familiar structures, they will cultivate a mindset that embraces uncertainty, paradox, and the surreal.

  • Deeper emotional and narrative engagement – Even in the most fantastical settings, human emotions remain central. Participants will discover how to ground absurdity in relatable experiences, making their imaginary worlds both compelling and resonant.

  • Ultimately, this workshop liberates improvisers from the constraints of logic and reality, empowering them to craft worlds that feel alive, immersive, and boundless.
